About me
I am a Master's student in Computer Science at the University of St. Gallen, focused on data science, machine learning, and systems engineering, with a particular interest in applied AI and finance.
I am originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, where I completed a B.Sc. in Information Technologies at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction. Throughout my degree I worked alongside my studies, which shaped how I approach technical work today. I began at the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, in an international event environment where the pace was high and accuracy mattered, and later joined an engineering company as a junior IT specialist. There I handled system troubleshooting and diagnostics, and documented new software and hardware environments. That role taught me that clear documentation is often what separates a system people can rely on from one they cannot.
I then spent a year as an artist liaison on an international concert tour across Turkey, Jordan, and the UAE, coordinating schedules and logistics for up to sixty performers and translating in real time between Turkish, Azerbaijani, and English. Working across languages and teams under tight deadlines built the coordination skills I still rely on in technical projects.
My move toward data work began at a state design institute, where I collected, cleaned, and structured geographic and demographic datasets for infrastructure and city planning projects. Working with incomplete and inconsistent sources gave me a realistic picture of what data work involves, and confirmed the direction I wanted to take.
That direction brought me to Switzerland for my Master's. During my studies I built a compact language model from scratch with a team of four, where I worked on the post-training stage. I am currently interning at SOCAR Trading in Geneva, where I automated a previously manual allocation process using SQL and support the Paper desk with reporting on trading positions. Alongside my studies I also build my own tools, including a local budgeting application that reads bank statements and forecasts monthly spending.
What connects this work is a preference for problems where the data is imperfect, the constraints are real, and the result is something people actually use. I am currently looking for opportunities in machine learning and applied AI.
